Freelance SAP S/4HANA Solution Architect – Brownfield Conversion

We are supporting a major SAP transformation programme within a client in Europe and they are looking for an experienced SAP S/4HANA Solution Architect to lead a large-scale ECC to S/4HANA brownfield conversion.

This role will play a key part in defining and governing the end-to-end solution architecture across core business functions while ensuring a controlled, low-risk transition into S/4HANA.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end SAP solution architecture across Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Logistics, and Quality
• Lead fit-to-standard workshops and drive best-practice S/4HANA design decisions
• Govern solution integrity while minimising unnecessary customisations
• Assess and manage brownfield conversion impacts including:
• Simplification items
• Business Partner adoption
• Master data transformation
• Retained ECC processes
• Coordinate dependencies across data migration, integrations, testing, and cutover activities
• Provide leadership through build, go-live, and hypercare phases

Required Experience

• Extensive SAP S/4HANA architecture experience across multiple functional domains
• Proven track record delivering ECC to S/4HANA brownfield/system conversion programmes
• Strong understanding of:
• S/4 simplification impacts
• Data conversion strategies
• Cross-functional SAP integrations
• Excellent stakeholder management and workshop facilitation skills
• Strong governance and programme leadership capability

Understanding of:

• Batch / lot-based production
• Complex manufacturing and supply chain environments
• Integrated planning, inventory, production, and distribution processes

Nice to Have

• Multi-country rollout or global template governance experience
• SAP Activate methodology knowledge
• Experience with SAP conversion and readiness tooling
• SAP certifications
