Masentó are working with an international organisation that requires an experienced Freelance SAP Techno-Functional Data Migration Consultant to join their team on an initial 6 month contract. The role will be based in Romania, with remote working flexibility.

Our client is looking for a strong SAP Data Migration specialist with both functional and technical expertise to support a major SAP transformation programme. The role will involve managing data migration activities from legacy systems into SAP, ensuring data quality, consistency and accuracy throughout the migration lifecycle.

You will work closely with functional and technical teams, business stakeholders and data owners to understand data requirements, define migration strategies and deliver end-to-end data migration solutions. You will be responsible for bridging the gap between business requirements and technical execution, ensuring successful data extraction, transformation, validation and loading into SAP.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support end-to-end SAP data migration activities across the project lifecycle
• Work with business stakeholders to understand data requirements and define migration strategies
• Design and execute data migration processes from legacy systems into SAP
• Perform data mapping, transformation, cleansing and validation activities
• Work across SAP data migration tools, including SAP S/4HANA Migration Cockpit, LSMW and other ETL solutions
• Develop and support technical migration objects, data loads and transformation logic
• Collaborate with SAP functional teams to ensure data is aligned with business processes and SAP requirements
• Manage data migration testing, reconciliation and defect resolution
• Support mock migrations, cutover planning and go-live activities
• Identify data quality issues, risks and dependencies, working with relevant teams to resolve them
• Provide regular updates on migration progress, issues and delivery milestones

Essential experience

• Proven experience as an SAP Data Migration Consultant with both techno-functional expertise
• Strong experience delivering end-to-end data migration activities within SAP implementations or transformation programmes
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA data migration
• Strong understanding of SAP data structures, master data and transactional data
• Hands-on experience with SAP Migration Cockpit, LSMW, ETL tools or similar migration technologies
• Experience with data mapping, transformation, cleansing, validation and reconciliation
• Ability to work closely with both functional and technical SAP teams
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• Experience supporting mock migrations, cutover and go-live activities
• Fluent English communication skills; any other European language is an advantage

Desirable experience

• Previous experience working on international SAP S/4HANA transformation programmes
• Experience with SAP Data Services (BODS), Syniti or other data migration platforms
• Knowledge of SAP MDG and master data governance
• Experience migrating data from multiple legacy ERP systems
• Previous experience working on projects within Romania or across Europe
