Data Migration Lead: SAP S/4HANA Transformation Programme

6 months initial, with extension likely subject to programme phasing

EU passport/residency required. 30% travel for key phases to Hamburg, Germany

Our client is delivering a large-scale SAP S/4HANA transformation and needs an experienced Data Migration Lead to own the end-to-end data migration workstream. You will lead the strategy, planning, and execution of data migration from legacy systems into S/4HANA, ensuring data is clean, reconciled, and ready for each load cycle through to go-live.

Key responsibilities

• Own the data migration strategy, approach and roadmap, covering extraction, transformation, cleansing, loading and reconciliation
• Plan and run mock loads, dress rehearsals and cutover, including go/no-go criteria and hypercare support
• Lead and coordinate the data migration team (functional data leads, technical developers, data analysts), as well as the business data owners
• Define migration scope by object, working with process and functional workstreams (e.g. SD, FICO, MM, PP, EWM)
• Manage data quality: profiling, cleansing rules, validation, sign-off and reconciliation reporting
• Establish data governance and ownership with business stakeholders, driving accountability for data readiness
• Oversee the technical migration toolset and approach, e.g. SAP S/4HANA Migration Cockpit, SAP Data Services, LTMC/LTMOM, or third-party tools
• Coordinate with integration, testing and cutover workstreams to align data milestones to the wider programme plan

Essential experience

• Proven track record leading data migration on at least one full-cycle SAP S/4HANA programme (greenfield, brownfield or selective data transition)
• Strong hands-on knowledge of S/4HANA migration tooling and approaches (Migration Cockpit, SAP Data Services or equivalent)
• Experience across multiple data domains such as master data and transactional data, with a good understanding of cross-module dependencies
• Demonstrated experience running multiple mock cycles and a successful production cutover
• Strong stakeholder management, able to engage business data owners and senior programme leadership
• Experience managing and directing distributed teams, including offshore or third-party delivery partners
• Excellent communication skills in English
