Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced SAP EWM Lead Consultant to support a major SAP transformation programme. The successful candidate will take a hands-on leadership role across the full SAP EWM implementation lifecycle, from business workshops and solution design through configuration support, testing, deployment and post-go-live activities.

This is a remote EU-based contract position, with regular collaboration across international project teams and some travel required to the United States, Germany and Austria.

The role will suit an experienced SAP EWM professional who is comfortable leading workshops, owning solution design, working directly with business stakeholders and supporting and mentoring junior consultants.

Key Responsibilities

SAP EWM Leadership

• Lead the SAP EWM workstream across the full project lifecycle.
• Act as the senior EWM subject-matter expert and primary point of contact for the EWM solution.
• Provide guidance to functional consultants and junior team members.
• Review deliverables and ensure that the EWM solution is aligned with overall SAP programme objectives.
• Work closely with SAP functional, technical and business teams.

Workshops & Requirements

• Plan and lead business process and requirements workshops.
• Engage with warehouse, logistics and supply-chain stakeholders to understand current and future-state processes.
• Document business requirements, process flows, gaps and improvement opportunities.
• Challenge existing processes where appropriate and identify opportunities for standard SAP functionality.
• Translate business requirements into practical SAP EWM solutions.

Solution Design

• Own and produce SAP EWM solution designs.
• Design end-to-end warehouse processes including inbound, outbound, internal warehouse movements and inventory processes.
• Define EWM integration requirements with relevant SAP modules and external systems.
• Produce functional specifications and solution documentation where required.
• Ensure designs are scalable, maintainable and aligned with SAP best practice.
• Support the resolution of design decisions, gaps and functional issues.

Testing & End-to-End Delivery

The consultant will have responsibility for supporting the complete end-to-end testing lifecycle, including:

• Test strategy and test planning.
• Preparation and review of test scenarios and test scripts.
• Unit testing.
• System/integration testing.
• End-to-end business process testing.
• User acceptance testing (UAT).
• Defect analysis and resolution.
• Regression testing.
• Test evidence and documentation.
• Coordination with technical teams to resolve integration issues.
• Supporting business users throughout UAT.
• Tracking and reporting testing progress and outstanding defects.

Implementation & Go-Live

• Support configuration and implementation activities.
• Work with developers and integration teams to ensure the solution operates as designed.
• Support cutover planning and execution.
• Provide go-live and hypercare support.
• Troubleshoot and resolve functional issues.
• Support knowledge transfer to the client's internal team.
• Ensure appropriate documentation is completed before handover.

Team Support & Mentoring

• Mentor junior and mid-level SAP EWM consultants.
• Provide guidance on solution design, configuration, testing and troubleshooting.
• Review junior consultants' work and provide constructive feedback.
• Assist with training and knowledge-transfer sessions.
• Help establish consistent EWM delivery standards across the project team.

Required Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with SAP EWM.
• Proven experience working as an SAP EWM Lead / Senior EWM Consultant.
• Experience delivering SAP EWM implementations or major transformation programmes.
• Strong understanding of end-to-end warehouse management processes.
• Extensive experience leading business workshops.
• Proven solution-design experience.
• Strong experience across the full testing lifecycle.
• Experience working with business stakeholders at senior level.
• Experience mentoring or leading other SAP consultants.
• Ability to work independently in a remote international project environment.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.
• Willingness and ability to travel internationally when required.

The consultant should have strong knowledge of relevant EWM processes, potentially including:

• Storage types and storage bins
• Warehouse process types
• Warehouse monitoring

• Labour management, where applicable

• Integration with SAP ERP/SAP S/4HANA
• Integration with automation and third-party warehouse systems, where applicable

Leadership & Soft Skills

The successful consultant will be expected to:

• Lead discussions confidently with business and technical stakeholders.
• Communicate complex SAP concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
• Take ownership of EWM deliverables.
• Identify risks and issues proactively.
• Work effectively across multiple countries and time zones.
• Mentor less experienced consultants.
• Operate effectively with limited supervision.
• Balance strategic solution design with hands-on delivery.

Travel Requirements

The role is primarily remote; however, international travel will be required during key stages of the programme.

Expected travel locations include:

• United States
• Germany
• Austria

Travel may be required for workshops, solution design sessions, testing, training, cutover, go-live and/or hypercare.

The exact frequency and duration of travel will be agreed with the contractor in advance and may vary according to project requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• SAP S/4HANA EWM experience.
• SAP EWM certification.
• Experience leading global SAP programmes.
• Experience with warehouse automation/integration.
• Experience with SAP TM, SD, MM or PP integration.
• Previous experience delivering projects across Europe and/or the United States.
• German language skills would be advantageous.

Success in the Role

Success will be measured by the consultant's ability to provide strong EWM leadership from initial workshops through design, build, testing, deployment and handover, while maintaining high-quality documentation, supporting the wider project team and transferring knowledge to junior consultants and client resources.

The consultant should be comfortable being both a hands-on SAP EWM expert and the functional lead for the EWM workstream.
